How does your current role allow you to make a difference to the education and learning space?

My role as Technology Director includes responsibility not just for the hardware and network "nuts and bolts" of the school, but also the curriculum, enabling me to tie all initiatives to the school's mission "Think, create, be yourself, aspire to excellence and go beyond". Tampa Preparatory School is an independent school for students ages 12-18 with a focus on innovation in education. Some of these initiatives include: student centered Active Learning Environments, coursework in virtual reality creation, artificial intelligence, robotics and engineering. Our school is a huge proponent of project based learning and fostering a design thinking mindset.

What are the key trends you believe have the power to transform the way we learn?

Opportunities in education enabled through technological innovations such as: the power of immersion through virtual reality, as well as personalized learning by leveraging Big Data analytics and artificial intelligence will undoubtedly have a huge impact on the future.

Why is it important for all players in the EdTech ecosystem to continuously connect, network and learn from each other?

We all must prepare for the future global job infrastructure, a border-less global economy where the 4 C's of 21st century learning as well as insight, empathy and understanding will be the norm.

What should the rest of the world learn about EdTech innovation in your country?

EdTech in the United States encompasses education spaces conducive to personalized learning enhanced by engaging tech tools which promote student collaboration, student voice, authentic experiences and future-ready skills.

When you think about joining London EdTech Week and EdTechXEurope Summit this year, what are you looking forward to?

I'm excited by the opportunity to establish global collaboration on projects like innovative curriculum for student created VR/AR/XR design.

Who would you like to meet at the event?

I would love to meet with other people/businesses who see the potential for VR/AR/XR in education and business.
