Share a short description about your company:
Europe's platform for digital cultural heritage.
What are the key trends you believe have the power to transform the way we learn?
Definitely the increasing adoption of the virtual and mixed reality technologies. They have the capacity to create powerful immersive experiences and bring novelty in the way knowledge is gained - faster, without the constraints of time, geography and even physical touch, and all this in an authentic way.
The theme of EdTechXEurope 2018 is ‘Eternally Learning’. What does eternal learning mean to you?
To me, this is another definition of lifelong learning. Its importance has notably increased over the past years as it brings not only more economic opportunities but is also essential for our general well-being and personal growth. Today, we can choose from a wide range of formal and informal learning opportunities, available in any format, at any time and on almost any subject. In my view, the future lifelong learning developments relate to access (e.g. availability of more open educational resources), micro-learning and personalization of the learning experiences.
What should the rest of the world learn about EdTech in your country?
As a pan-European initiative and platform, we want to make EdTech communities around the world aware of the educational potential of Europe’s digital cultural heritage. Explore these rich and unique content resources, available for you and your educational projects for free!
Why is it important for all players in the EdTech ecosystem to continuously connect, network and learn from each other?
As the modern days adage goes, “sharing is caring”. By connecting with the diverse players in the EdTech ecosystem, we can learn about and from each other, improve the ways we interact, address effectively the challenges in common, discover and create new collaboration opportunities, thus setting the ecosystem to expand and thrive.
How does your current role allow you to make a difference to education and learning space?
In essence, my role is about raising awareness of how digital cultural content can both inspire learners of all ages and create business value across the EdTech ecosystem.
Europeana Collections feature a huge variety of content which can be applied for free in diverse learning environments, with great social and economic impact for all types of educational players. Teachers can use them to animate their lessons and create engaging learning experiences for their students. Publishers can enrich their educational materials and online learning platforms; startups can develop educational apps and games with unique content; Ministries of Education can integrate more digital learning resources with cultural content on their national portals and/or curriculum to shape innovative classrooms.
Who would you like to meet at the event?
Edtech startups, publishers, investors.
When you think about joining London EdTech Week and EdTechXEurope Summit this year, what are you looking forward to?
This year will be the first time Europeana will attend the London EdTech Week and EdTechXEurope Summit. I am truly excited about joining the high-profile community of educational practitioners, creative thinkers and technology leaders across Europe, learning about latest innovations in educational technologies and practices and being part of the conversations about the EdTech future. I look very much forward to June!
