Share a short description about your company:

Chinaccelerator, the first startup accelerator to launch in Asia, is a mentorship-driven program helping internet startups from around the world cross borders - from the world into China and from China to the world. Chinaccelerator is run by venture fund SOSV with $550M AUM operating seven global accelerators. Chinaccelerator offers three months of rigorous guidance, training and resources from mentors, partners and investors. The robust and supportive alumni network continues into the startups' post-Chinaccelerator lifespan.

How does your current role allow you to make a difference to the education and learning space?

As a technology accelerator we bring help entrepreneurs leverage the potential of technology to solve real problems in any sector, including education. We have experience in different areas of education from K-12 to adult education both language or skills development. From a technology perspective we have worked with startups that use AI, AR/VR, mobile, gamification, robotics, IoT and even biotech. Additionally, by bringing technologies from China (or Asia) to the world and to the world to China we can see interesting cases of innovation arbitrage.

What are the key trends you believe have the power to transform the way we learn?

- New user interfaces are changing the way learners are interacting with their learning experience from mobile to Virtual and Augmented Reality
- Data sciences, AI, and Machine Learning are changing dramatically not only the scalability of education, but also they way it is managed
-Globalization is also bringing very interesting arbitrage opportunities for example connecting demand and supply (marketplaces for language) or connecting technology that is developed in one market but adopted in another one (Like VR)
- A final thought is about cross-polynation and the application of learnings from other industries to the education sector. A clear example is gamification, but there are more.

Why is it important for all players in the EdTech ecosystem to continuously connect, network and learn from each other?

In a fast changing environment the ecosystem changes really fast and only via collaboration we can achieve sustainable value for learners and clients.
